bohn (the more "stereotypical top") also ends up telling duen he wouldn't mind bottoming for him. There are like 2 or 3 episodes dedicated to drama about who between the main couple would be the top with a lot of stereotyping, that refreshingly enough ends with the message "looks and personality don't matter, anyone can be a top" (basically lol) and i have to admit it was hilarious in places. and bohn is a bit annoyingly jealous and possessive Almost completely inoffensive except for the rape fakeout i mentioned above. This is just a sort of middle of the road bl story that is elevated by its stellar cast and hilarious jokes. You should probably see kiss me again in advance just to get context on petekao, but its not necessarily a MustĬw: rape fakeout, "i'm not gay i only like you", rl shipping it's an emotional ride but it ends well and the catharsis is amazing

Ultimately, frustrating bits aside, this show is absolutely worth a watch. That doesn't mean pete doesn't go through some meaningful development though! quite the opposite - he does seriously start working on some of his flaws, and i appreciate that a lot. and sadly he doesn't develop much in that regard and kao ends up suffering under it yes, it's an effective tool to create drama, but it can become very overbearing. This show lets its characters talk about the gay experience, lets them come out, lets them have loving parents, lets them struggle with their identity in relatable ways. I'm a bit torn on this show - on one hand i Really loved how it all ended, how the conflicts all got resolved in the end, the lessons about acceptance, the great female characters (sandee, kitty and manow were so lovable and memorable!) which are a rare treat in bl. Story: 8.5/10 i like most of it except for pete's jealousy over non its a bit too much imoĬharacters: 7/10 not as consistent as id like SPOILER: also it turns out that mes used to date than's mom when he was still alive but i think its handled appropriately (also they broke up because he realized hes gay)Ĭharacters: 6/10 (bit weak unfortunately)Ĭw: dubious consent in some scenes involving petekao, homophobia, violence, attempted sexual assault (handled appropriately) if you ignore those things it Never feels like mes was attracted to than's child self. doesn't help that hamburger magazine did a cmbyn inspired photo shoot with the main actorsīut that's really as bad as it gets. Unfortunately theres an uncomfortable bit at the very end where than asks mes if he already thought of his kid self as cute / implying attraction. and the progression didnt make me feel uncomfortable on the other hand they don't fall in love until after than takes mes with him. and than takes mes home with him when hes like 20. and a ghost) and then they dont meet again until than is around 18. mes (the ghost) meets than when than is just a little child (and mes is a 21 year old. its refreshing okĪlso here's a sweet detail, something you just dont see a lot in thai bl: pharm and in (pharm's past self) are both played by openly gay actors!!! this is pretty huge imoĬw: death, discussions of death, terminal illness im so glad hes not some perfect human at all hes flawed, hes cute. I love dean's awkward attempts at flirting. dean and pharm have already had so many cute and wholesome scenes together i've lost count

like yes its dramatic but also it doesnt dwell on it as much as you might think. i dont know i just do really like how its all handled. This is a show about reincarnation and fated lovers, given that premise its no surprise that both of them commit suicide in ep one (after being confronted by their homophobic fathers) now they are reincarnated and get a new shot at love - on first impression this feels a little like a cheap excuse to have them be head over heels for each other at first sight, but once their past lives' relationship gets explored more in flashbacks, and seeing how pharm's trauma over having seen his boyfriend commit suicide in a past life impacts him. i know they barely get any development in the novel but i hope the show wont go down that path. deanpharm is strong and teamwin drags them down a little by being pretty uninteresting so far. Pairings: 8/10 obviously open to future change. and i dont like there being a bl fan character in manaow, its uncomfortable how she talks about dean and pharm. the others feel kind of bland and one-dimensional at the moment. maybe a bit dramatic but it actually plays in its favorĬharacters: 7.5/10 i really like pharm and dean, especially how dean is a huge dork despite seeming somewhat standoffish.
